Sponge Products
Stannous octoate and silicone oil each play an important role in the foaming process of sponge.
Stannous octoate is mainly used in the production of flexible block polyether polyurethane foam, and can also be used as a catalyst for polyurethane coatings, elastomers, room temperature curing silicone rubber, etc. Since it is a divalent tin compound, it may be oxidized to a tetravalent tin compound after foaming, which remains in the foam and acts as an antioxidant. However, stannous octoate is susceptible to hydrolysis and oxidation and therefore cannot be used in combination polyethers (premixes).
On the other hand, silicone oil plays a good lubricating and anti-sticking effect in the sponge foaming process, and increases the consistency and cell degree of the sponge. This makes the sponge more soft and elastic, more suitable for human use.
